Deconstructing the Masters
The series engages with selected works and visual principles from the history of painting, either deconstructing existing compositions or creating new ones in dialogue with them. Two-dimensional pictorial structures are translated into physically constructed three-dimensional sets and installations. Through staging and spatial manipulation, the works open multiple viewpoints, as a single viewpoint cannot contain the whole. The constructions are then transformed through the camera back into two-dimensional images, reinterpreting pictorial conventions through a photographic perspective.
